Plainview Water District Issues Alert On Possible Scam

The Plainview Water District is warning residents to be on the lookout for a possible water testing scam. The District said there are companies in the area offering ““free”” water testing. The commissioners warn that any companies offering free “water testing” may have ulterior motives since the testing does not follow the strict water district standards. Consumers should remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The Plainview Water District spends over $90,000 per year to test the drinking supply at its source throughout the system through the use of highly sophisticated scientific equipment. To further ensure the quality of residents drinking supply the Nassau County health department performs water quality spot checks.

“We have strict quality control measures that are in place to ensure the safety and integrity of our water supply. Comprehensive “Drinking Water Quality Reports” are published and made available to the consumer on an annual basis. Our primary goal is to provide the community with a dependable and safe water supply” said Joel Kessler, Chairman of the Plainview Water District Board of Commissioners.

Customers who are concerned about the quality of their water are urged to contact our customer service department at 516-931-6469 for a copy of our annual drinking water quality report or the Nassau County Department of Health at 516-571-3323.
