TO THE REGISTERED AND QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE
PLAINVIEW WATER DISTRICT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Article 13, Section 212, of the Town Law, an election will be held at the Plainview Water District on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. The polls will be open between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at the Plainview Water District offices, 10 Manetto Hill Road, Plainview, Nassau County, New York, for the purpose of electing one Commissioner for a term of three (3) years. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to the resolution of the Board of Commissioners adopted September 8, 1987, candidates shall file their names and nominating petitions with the Secretary to the Board of Commissioners at the Plainview Water District offices, 10 Manetto Hill Road, Plainview, Nassau County, New York, during regular office hours, (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Monday through Friday, on or before and no later than November 10, 2008. Such nominating petitions shall be subscribed by at least twenty-five (25) registered voters of the District. Petition forms may be obtained from the Secretary to the Board of Commissioners at the Plainview Water District offices during regular office hours. Pursuant to Section 211 of the Town Law, every resident of the District who is qualified to vote for a Town Officer, shall be eligible to hold the Office of Water District Commissioner. Furthermore, in accordance with Sections 213 and 213-a of the Town Law, every resident who is registered with the Board of Elections on or before the twenty-third (23rd) day before December 9, 2008, and who shall have resided within the Plainview Water District for a period of thirty (30) days next preceding the 9th day of December 2008, shall be entitled to vote for Water District Commissioner in this election.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the inspectors of election shall meet at the Plainview Water District office on November 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) for the purpose of reviewing the registration list supplied by the County Board of Elections and preparing the District’s register from the names appearing thereon, of all persons residing in the District and qualified to vote at the said annual election. Said register shall be open for inspection by District residents during the aforesaid meeting.
